Sunday, November 27th, 2011

  • Computer, peripherals, computer desk, cables all disconnected cleaned, hoovered and then reassembled. I need a sit down. #
  • @Troppers Vicks infused lasagne sounds very Heston Blumenthal but not in a nice way ;-) #
  • Internet connection mysteriously went down @ the same time as yesterday. No flock of BT vans trying to fix it today. Now back up :-) #
  • @Troppers Hope you're feeling better soon. Better living through Vicks is one slogan I hope to never see catch on. #
  • @symatt Should I ask what you've been doing for 12 hours? #
  • @symatt Ow 12 hours of that – no wonder some of the ticket office staff look fed up! #
  • Interesting Parsian inspired curry for dinner in a good way: Chicken with Apricots (from Madhur Jaffrey's Curry Easy p91) #
  • @DanDiplo New Scientist had a piece about Decaptcha an academic project to break them. Only reCAPTHCA was found to be reliable against bots. #
  • @KimKnox Not quite reached the point of bringing in actors and improving the scene in a Mike Leigh like process then :-) #
  • Wondering if there is a book about at what can be seen along the 86 bus routes of different UK towns & cities. But not very seriously. #
  • @ehlanakovas lol. Just one of those random things that starts at work: in this case several people have used the 86 in different places #
  • Did Adobe have the most pointless brainstorming session ever when they came up with new features for Photoshop Elements 10? #
  • @ianf I bet they sweated over that for a measurable number of seconds before pretending to be working for the rest of the afternoon ;-) #
  • @Troppers Sorry he's completely besotted with his Virgin box if the ads are anything to go by. He only has eyes for Tivo. #
  • The office is now discussing introducing the effect of "Assertive" technology for web browsers after a slip of the tongue… #

  • @symatt Did you get it sorted in the end or did it end up going like this… http://t.co/eM8wIvUK ? #
  • Why didn't anyone tell me about @guardianstyle before? Also pleased to see that @grauniadstyle exists too :-) #
  • @KimKnox On a scale where 1 is bad kittens & 10 is A Rickman playing Hans Gruber & the Sheriff of Nottingham playing with kittens how bad? #
  • Emailed a website that they may have ModSecurity misconfigured: 1st time at site it says I'm making too many request but displays on reload! #
  • @KimKnox 11 is so old hat now. E veryone goes to 11 or gives 110%. Stand out from the crowd – turn it up to 15 :-) #
  • Who would have guessed you lot would be so keen on @guardianstyle and @grauniadstyle ? ;-) #
  • Over the last 20 years Liverpool has gotten rid of market stalls because they were a nuisance to pedestrians and replaced them with… #
  • … seasonal street markets with twice as many stalls to be a nuisance to pedestrians. Still the tat they sell is different and festive. #
  • @symatt Its been improvised from a chocolate bar foil, some liquid nitrogen and a copy of time magazine? #
  • @Troppers If the Guardian story is what you're talking about – maybe they could build a new Stadium below ground level to hide it? :-( #
  • New word of the day: Messuage #

  • Is the Metro using one of Nick Clegg's ex-Neets army for Photoshopping? White outline & missing arm http://t.co/ljmj3uX2 #
  • BBC experimental TV controlled Dalek in your home. Next robot Punch & Judy to replace TV for real 3D experience? http://t.co/MKiLpRX7 #

  • @vmdolphin Thanks for the #ff :-) #
  • Its Friday evening. Yeh! My head hurts. Boo! #
  • @SarahDarkmagic Worth a trip to the cinema when it arrives then? We only have the muppets Orange advert here at the moment :-( #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2011-11-20

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

  • @MoonWolf95 Hope you found Mars DEMS. Think USGS / NASA used to have them. #
  • @vmdolphin Thanks for the #ff hope you had a great weekend. #
  • Excellent CoC game although we did mislay one PC in another dimension & one probably has to retire to a desk job. #
  • @richeym Sorry: Call of Cthulhu – a classic table top RPG based on H. P. Lovecraft and related horror writers http://t.co/lc10v0Dr #
  • @MoonWolf95 Cool – I knew of a lower res whole mars but those both sound excellent #
  • Plan: Tidy today. Do something more interesting tomorrow. #
  • @symatt I'd missed a few with being busy at work – really like the mouse with a watch :-) #
  • @symatt I look forward to seeing the improved version then :-) #
  • @call_me_salome Afternoon #
  • First room blitzed. Time for lunch. Yes my life today is thrilling. #
  • Think I may have forgotten to put washing powder and softener in wash thanks to annoying auto dialer recorded phone call this morning :-( #
  • RT @LPOBryan: The definitive writer's cheat sheet: http://t.co/pyiWtDW7 via @KimKnox @Suburbman #
  • RT @newscientist: What does mathematics *look* like? A team of world-class artists & mathematicians set out to discover http://t.co/slLZaIF5 #
  • @xtamsynx Thats worse than the time the only way to get an update was to kill my web browser, restart and log in again. #
  • @xtamsynx Now that really is odd. In fact its approaching just plain weird. In an annoying way :-( #
  • @simplychrista Very cool. Like it. #
  • @simplychrista Sadly no CTRL-Z key for real life ;-) #
  • @Danacea In danger of a titter ye not there ;-) #
  • @simplychrista Just the Adobe monster to feed instead. #
  • @MoonWolf95 @simplychrista I had a similar thought possibly due to playing CoC Saturday night and winding up in another dimension lol #
  • @xtamsynx One habit I've yet to succumb to but down side is I'm tweetless on the move. #
  • @Danacea So many innuendos to choose from so few tweets in the world ;-) #
  • @simplychrista Just so long as its just the decor and not the dilemas and San loss #
  • @MoonWolf95 @simplychrista I really hope that was a Freudian typo;-) #
  • @MoonWolf95 lol #
  • @MoonWolf95 That would be cool. I've got a planetary scale grey scale altitude map but more detailed sounds interesting :-) #
  • @MoonWolf95 Ta :-) #
  • @DaddyDM Very productive so far thanks. If I can get through all my chores that leaves the rest of the week for fun :-) You? #
  • @daneofwar Pretty grey here all day. Not even atmospheric fog. Soon to be replaced by dark :-( #
  • @cooda Woolworth's used to be good, I guess Argos or DIY shops will probably be the only inexpensive but not rubbish choices left #
  • @cooda Sorry those weren't any use. Sadly the other likely to be cheap + quality place I know are Liverpool only :-( #
  • @DanDiplo I was signing up to a site the other day that didn't allow capitals or numbers in passwords too! #
  • @MoonWolf95 Thanks :-) #
  • Good day in 1 tweet – kitchen cleaned (boring), chatted about writing & #RPG saw Tintin & In Time + excellent dinner @tapastapas #
  • @call_me_salome Spam is so borring these days the only girls names in my last 30 days spam: Lorriet, Sherie, Ericka & Aimee. #
  • @call_me_salome Used to use it all the time: got really good ones for characters for Dirk Dangerous stories. Lately only rubbish :-( #
  • @xtamsynx lol. I'd have to write a story where he gets the girl and so far that hasn't happened. #
  • @xtamsynx You're right – I forgot he mentions "getting" Felicitous Bragshot: “Nice girl. Long legs. Laugh like a donkey.” in DD&tGBoD :-) #
  • @xtamsynx I really must finish writing some more Dirk Dangerous stories and find somewhere looking for pulp. #
  • Downloading CityEngine 2011 #
  • City centre has been captured by 6 flavours of chugger, 3 market research squads + assorted buskers & living statues. Its hell out there. #
  • @simplychrista Thanks for the #ff :-) #
  • After buying a new kitchen timer I have to ask but Heston Blumenthal is the joke still on us? http://t.co/S8Kszejw #
  • @aniakovas It was a long time ago… #
  • @MoonWolf95 Thanks for the #ff :-) #
  • @DaddyDM Thanks for the #FF :-) #
  • @DougPiranha Probably. Check the opening titles and see if he's guest staring in your life. Bad things usually happen around him if he is. #
  • @call_me_salome Judging by my Twitter Time line they mostly still are. Very slow Saturday morning. #
  • Very, very cool prize RT @MuseumLiverpool: See my new galleries on 2 Dec? Free tickets in this prize draw http://t.co/sQ2BqmGC #
  • Sometimes its the little things that make the difference – like getting roundabouts in CityEngine 2011 #
  • Just back from Immortals – quite pretty and 3D not overdone till end but story and characterisation rather thin #
  • @MoonWolf95 I've no problem with the action just that the characters lacked a bit of depth (which is sad in a 3D film) #

  • @blindgeekuk Something to do with blowing up planets & killing millions. Just a little thing I know but I find it hard to overlook. #

  • @grahamwalmsley Piece in this weeks New Scientist (tenuously) links creativity, schizophrenia and humans moving past basic tool use. #
  • @Troppers I know London's cosmopolitan compared to the rest of the UK but the chances of meeting a seal there have got to be low ;-) #
  • @Troppers Chance of meeting a Seal: London Zoo 0.1% The Thames 0.001% District Line (around Hammersmith Station) Saturday after 10PM >11% #
  • @Troppers So the one time I had to change lines there which happened to be on a Sat night was probably a repeatable unpleasant experience? #

  • Ravenloft Fans: Quoth the Raven issue #18 http://t.co/G0xlvjZ9 #rpg #

  • @Ghostwoods I was trying to think of someone famous called Jay quickly – how did I forget Jay of Jay and Silent Bob? #
  • @Ghostwoods A few years ago I'd have said Jay who used to edit Valkyrie but I think we lost him to WoW :-( #
  • @Troppers Oh yes. Not had sole of foot but did have ankle joint with a 1 mile walk to first aid and a sting with every step. That was a 9. #
  • @cultauthor That will probably cause the mass head explosion you were trying for. #
  • @cultauthor Now that would make for a good review quote "Cult author – when one head explosion just isn't enough" ;-) #
  • @Troppers That definitely sounds painful. I'm sure there is some logic to not swimming afterward ;-) #
  • @symatt Night #
  • @DaddyDM Night too #
  • @Troppers lol I don't think I ever went as far as getting stung to get out of PE ;-) #
  • @cultauthor I dread to imagine what could have been worse than that in reality but still considered #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2011-11-06

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

  • @oldknickers @craig3djarvis This is the one time of year I cross my fingers for bad weather. #
  • @oldknickers Then too but if I could predict riots like I can bonfire night I'd be being asked questions by the police ;-) #
  • @KimKnox Worth a trip then? Some of the reviews put me off. #
  • @iancockayne Two positive tweets. You'd recomend it then? #
  • @KimKnox Cool will probably give it a go then :-) #
  • Once I've installed all the bits and pieces for Daz's Victoria 5 I may still have will to live but this installation process is clunky. #
  • @allison_pang I jumped & made the switch a couple of months ago partly because Smith Micro's customer service managed to get up my nose #
  • @allison_pang Me too. Only done CG for 1 year professionally and that was over 10 years ago. #
  • @shainorton There just has to be a smarter way than all these installers – especially 2 or 3 for one product! #
  • @allison_pang I've used Genesis a lot lately very flexible it is plus so much old content works. Probably not good for content makers sales! #
  • Dear @daz3d I don't need the default settings of installers to put a link to your store on my desktop. I find it far to easily already #
  • @Troppers Is one of them doing the utterly annoying thing of looking at you while snogging as though to say "look I'm with someone" ? #
  • Next illustration on my list is an easy one – see if I can put it together quicker than yesterdays 6 hours. #
  • @Troppers Boring :-( I had a couple in front of me like that last time I went to The Comedy Store. Couple next to me at interval were funny #
  • @Troppers Turned to me & asked loudly if a pair of exhibitionists for £19 with Jossie Lawrence & Comedy Store Players for free was worth it #
  • @pookie_uk Lol very cool :-) #
  • @Troppers Cheered me up no end and embarrassed the couple into stopping sucking face for the second half :-) #
  • @pookie_uk An excellent choice – should go down a storm :-) #
  • Two nations divided by a common language – Manchester City Council leader's "Shed Load" bleeped :-) http://t.co/LKSRvqJl #
  • @symatt I had two bananas for desert. That's a whole extra banana! Exciting enough for you? #
  • @symatt Ok. See my next tweet. #
  • Just had an idea for an adventure involving in no order: The Blackwall Tunnel, a Necropolis, a Dragon flushed into sewers & Circular Saws #
  • @symatt Is that more exciting? At least in concept ;-) #
  • @symatt Sorry then nothing really exciting here :-( #
  • @symatt Surprise me :-) #
  • @Curis Hitting it with a spanner in just the right spot – well thats what I've been tempted to do to Joomla for months ;-) #
  • @BigDaddyDraven Saddly there version probably makes more sense to the sort of people who set them off after midnight and before 7AM :-( #
  • @Curis @EroticPuffin I've been working with Joomla pretty much solid for 2 months & I've about had it up to a very high place #
  • @symatt I think I'll go for the 9 minute version http://t.co/GtuaNRsL #
  • @EroticPuffin @Curis When the clients launch these they will be anything but simple. Around 1d10 San Loss level. #
  • @sciamannata Glad I've eaten or talk of riso e latte and porridge would be making me very hungry. #
  • @symatt Night :-) #
  • @sciamannata Thankfully no. Just an appetite and a headache from spending too much time coding at work :-( #
  • @call_me_salome I get sexy little ankle boots. Never bought them or looked at them (on Amazon or other websites). Weird security measure? #
  • @call_me_salome I was more thinking if my account looked at or ordered them they'd know I'd been hacked but your way sounds more fun ;-) #
  • @Curis @EroticPuffin Could you could send a missable $100,000 or $200,000 my way while you're at it? #
  • @call_me_salome Saddly a group of companies already got there http://t.co/z4Y960fB Pretty diagram though #
  • @Curis @EroticPuffin Why does it play that one Eagles song in the lift and foyer over and over especially the bit about never leaving? #
  • I could poke plot holes in Death in Paradise but its fun and good after a hard day at work so I'll enjoy it instead. #
  • @call_me_salome Glad you found it interesting. It makes sense but it doesn't stop it being scary. #
  • @CrazyCGChick And I thought I was tired lol #

  • @Troppers That is a cool set of guests. #
  • @FakeTSR Thats why you guys made your own incorrect in Campaign Source Book & Catacomb Guide right? #
  • @Troppers Brilliantly :-) #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2011-10-30

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

  • @Troppers Got me beat. One to send into SFX? #
  • @Troppers And something sounding like that from that era I'd usually have some sort of vague memory of it too. #
  • @Troppers Did you find out what the TV show was? #
  • RT @iancockayne: http://t.co/AyfgPvG2 Doctor Who Lego Vignette with micro K9 instructions awesome #
  • @periwinklewine How did you get leaves in your hair? Sounds like a hedge trimming sprayed with mayo ;-) #
  • @GRIMACHU Isn't the prominence of Pole Dancing in films/TV inversely proportional to Quality? In which case in the title is really scary ;-) #
  • Can anyone name the 80s TV show probably German or Dutch with a blond blue/green eyed lanky villain, kid hostages & a volcano for @Troppers? #
  • My review of Johnny English Reborn http://t.co/kXTbqAq2 #
  • @richeym Maybe my review was a bit harsh. I enjoyed it but it left me wanting something a bit more filled out. #
  • @Troppers I must have missed that one – Wikipedia says BBC showed it in '88 so I may have been buried in GCSE exam prep or projects :-( #
  • Almost time for the last part of Hidden. Please let the resolution live up to the first 3 parts promise. #
  • @Troppers That just means they're hiding in the cupboard or under the bed ;-) #
  • Despite certain cliches in conspiracy Hidden managed to pull off an original thriller and left enough characters around to do a sequel. #
  • @Troppers What kind of hotel has lacks cupboard doors? You couldn't stage an English farce if the lover can't hide from the partner there #
  • @Troppers I'd say check under the bed and behind the shower curtain but you already looked there for axe murderers so that wouldn't help ;-) #
  • RT @guardiantech: Tintin and the Uncanny Valley: when CGI gets too real http://t.co/ZF25hkwL #
  • @RandomOenophile What could possibly go wrong with chocolate? #
  • @simplychrista Thanks for the #ff :-) #
  • @GRIMACHU Does it have a bar? Is it quiet? We moved the seminars at a Con I helped run to the bar, both benefited plus one less room to book #
  • @DaddyDM Thanks for the #ff :-) #
  • I am out of here. #
  • @DaddyDM At the moment sleeping in is my biggest plan for the weekend :-) #
  • @vmdolphin Thanks for the #ff :-) #
  • @cha0tic I watched it on DVD the other night. Brilliant film. Outstanding cast. #
  • My neighbours got Tracey Chapman album on but I know they'll never play past the famous tracks. I'll hear this http://t.co/zFL4a8N6 #
  • Will get to hear Fast Car http://t.co/FQ9zXbD5 but never heard them leave it on far enough to hear Why? http://t.co/QSKmVhDQ #
  • @DaddyDM Well we're in the run up to Bonfire night here so I may need all the luck or bad weather I can get. #
  • @GRIMACHU A limpet with its own armed forces, police forces and health services to call for support. That seagull is in for a bad day. #
  • Seems like HMV Liverpool has a bad batch of On Her Majesties Secret Service DVD still watched Brilliant Big Bang Theory episode instead. #
  • @Danacea I had a similar problem. Didn't end up paying a power bill for 18 months as they wouldn't refund. #
  • @DanDiplo I might go back and read more but once I got as far as discovering he subscribed to Drucker I struggled to carry on #
  • @Danacea Fingers crossed :-) #
  • @simplychrista It arrived. Cool :-) #
  • @symatt Thankfully not a Last Chicken in Sainsburys reference. Had me worried for a second :-) #
  • @dr_monkeyface I got one the other week that's fluorescent pink. Thankfully it doesn't glow in the dark. #
  • @DanDiplo Thats why I may go back and read it. Thankfully that theory is less popular as many decision makers turn out to be cost centres #
  • @dr_monkeyface When they put spikes and electrify the shelves in HMV we'll know for sure #
  • Saturday Kitchen without omelet challenge not so much fun. Worse knowing it was so talking heads could waffle about F1 not showing sport #
  • @jasummerell Or have to sell your soul to Nero Caesar #
  • @Curis Given some of the things that were hidden in the Natural History Museum during the war it may well be in the same building #
  • @jasummerell Pretty much. #
  • Just watched the first part of Death in Paradise looks like it could have legs #
  • @Curis About anything you want from HP Lovecraft to a Predator in formaldehyde. They hid 2 SOE stations in there during the war + 1 in V&A #
  • @jearle When Klout says its a Beta it really is – they keep changing the way they do the calculations yet rarely mention when they do #
  • @jearle Ah for once they have #
  • @GRIMACHU Nice :-) #
  • @MarcUpdates Follow Suit I think from card games #
  • Pleasantly full having cooked paella for the first time. #
  • @cthulhuchick And cold leftovers good for supper too :-) #
  • I have no idea why I'm watching F1. I just put the TV on so it would change its clock. #
  • @6d6Fireball Morning #
  • Now that I'd watch. F1 with Rowan Atkinson's face picture in picture as commentary. No spoken words. #
  • @oldknickers It takes a special kind of person or a special kind of firework and I'm guessing not the later? #
  • @oldknickers @craig3djarvis Or hungover – and even a 14 year old with a hangover doesn't think loud bangs are cool #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2011-10-25

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

  • Just watched the first two parts of BBC's Hidden. Its pretty good hope it the ending is worthy of the build up. #
  • If the Beetles were writing songs today would Day in the Life say "Three hundred thousand bits of gum spat on Oxford Street"? #
  • @xtamsynx Since reading the stat on the amount on Oxford Street I keep think of a new D&D monster made from used gum probably an ooze #
  • @symatt So no 1 minute working day. Shame :-( #
  • @symatt It would certainly reduce unemployment #
  • @Troppers As long as some sort of Buffy musical demon doesn't turn it into a micro hell musical reality for you. #
  • @MoonWolf95 That would qualify for a promotion from Geek to Boffin ;-) #
  • @Troppers If ever an episode jumped the shark in a good way that one did :-) #
  • @simplychrista And to all your twitter followers now :-) #
  • @simplychrista So what do you do to it. Just to help me imagine it better… #
  • @simplychrista Sounds delicious :-) #
  • @simplychrista Onions of all variety make so many dishes far more interesting. #
  • @Troppers Quite possibly the best inexplicable musical episode of a TV series… Ever :-) #
  • @simplychrista Thankfully I could – it was fatty food that did me every time. That's the weird thing with gallstones: everyone is different #
  • @simplychrista Thankfully not a pain I should ever suffer again. #
  • @Troppers I've heard they died out in the 70s, thankfully, but I think Scrubs, Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope and Xena did them that I remember #
  • 1500 words down time to start thinking about winding down. An episode of Big Bang Theory or 3 should finish tonight off nicely. #
