Whenever I hear “Waiting For A Star To Fall”, I think of a certain period of my life when I was living in Marquette, MI. Did you know that Boy Meets Girl (the writers of the song) offered it to Whitney Houston, but she turned it down?
“Beds Are Burning” is another favorite of mine. My girlfriend at the time didn’t share my sentiment.
I do not remember any of them. Hopefully, they were before my time, or I am losing my mind!
Great list! You’ve got my three favorites lumped together in the middle — 7, 8 and 9.
I only know #11 and that was a big favorite of mine. Have a great TT.
That could have been one of my tapes, great music!
My TT lists 13 facts about the black panther.
great list..I am torn between 7 and 9. I am going to take 9. nice video too!
Only a few that I recognize..
Still.. good looking list.. maybe I’ll check em out on iTunes later.
Is it bad I only know about 5 of those songs LOL!
Recorded from the radio?? Shame on you!
Oooh, oh my, there are some old, forgotten friends in that list! Great stuff to rediscover, Mark — and thanks for helping me reconnect, too!
Great list. I still love Pearl Jam and when Midnight Oil released that hit I overplayed it all the time!
Almost forgot about Midnight Oil! What a fun list. I now feel my age. But it’ll be okay. God bless!
LOL, some of those brought back memories. I dont know them all but I knew a few;) Happy TT.
By any chance did you grow up in the 80′s? lol Beds are Burning use to be one of my fav songs.
Oh dear. How old are you? I only remember Walking in Memphis…(Mine’s up!)
I LOVE You’re the voice.
Good list.
Sweet Freedom, and Walking in Memphis somehow bring out memories to me.
Oh, and definitely Beds Are Burning — I remember a high school sleepover!
I did two TTs. this week.
Really great list. I knew 7 of them from your list.
# 7 is one of my all time favorites. Happy TT!
I haven’t heard of most of those, but it’s a great list idea! I’m just not educated enough on music I guess.
I love the Mark Cohn song One Safe Place.
Great List!
Terrific Thursday Thirteen!
My TT is posted.
Have a wonderful day!
Happy TT’ing!

Is it bad that I had to immediately stop and listen to Sweet Freedom?
Michael McDonald was a big time crush based solely on how he sounded. I didn’t even know you could have a “voice crush” before him. LOL
Great Flashback List!

Am I young or what? I only recognize a few
I like #9 and #13. Midnight Oil – loved that song. I liked Jennifer Warnes, but don’t recall that song.
Smiles,

Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now-Wow! lol
I loved that one. Cheesy chick-flick music.
I like the Bob Marley, too.
Have a great Thursday!
I love that song “Walking in Memphis”!! Great finds!!
Wow, I recognize some of those:
Waiting for a Star to Fall
Rockin’ in the Free World
Walkin’ in Memphis
And the Mannequin song, of course.
Wow, I love you list. And I love the music! Happy TT!
Some great finds – and you still have the tapes? Wow!
Still like hearing Walking in Memphis
#7 is one of my faves.
I loved Starship when I was younger.

Now I’m going to be singing all day. I’ll be nice and not make fun of some of your choices (Nothing’s gonna stop us now? REally?? lol!)
I think I know a few…but I think these were a bit before me.
Happy TT!http://sassyfrazz.blogspot.com/2007/11/thirteen-things-i-am-thankful-for.html
Haven’t thought of “Waiting for a Star to Fall” in forever! You really brought back some memories here.
Home Taping is Killing Music!
…Hold on a minute, it didn’t did it?
Well they did tax blank tapes and give the record industry the cash to make up for home taping so technically all my tapes are legit
And slowly but surely I’m buying the CDs of a lot of the artists. Its taken me 15-20 years to get round to it but better late than never.
Oh dear I only recognize a couple of those names…
I remember some of those—Bob Marley, Midnight Oil, and the Starship. I’m from the Seventies, though—so these are a bit after my time!
We have some gorgeous photos this week by a very talented photographer.
