Thursday Thirteen #21

August 2nd, 2007 12:03 am

My Thirteen Things this week is for Lori who wanted to know how I change the date. Here are (somewhat more than) thirteen ways to travel in time Mark Caldwell might have used and possibly the real one too…

  1. A Police Box (Doctor Who)
  2. A Wardrobe (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, C.S. Lewis)
  3. A direct strike from a Nuclear warhead (Farnham’s Freehold, Robert A Heinlein)
  4. A DeLorean (Back to the Future)
  5. Visiting with fairies (Mythology)
  6. Thinking hard (Heroes)
  7. A Quantum Accelerator (Quantum Leap)
  8. Cryogenics (The Door into Summer, Robert A Heinlein)
  9. Being a Miser (A Christmas Carol, Dickens)
  10. A Lame Demon (Paris avant les homes, Pierre Boitard)
  11. A Time Machine (The Time Machine, H.G. Wells)
  12. Just about any method you can think of covered above and a few that aren’t including travelling very fast and stepping through a portal (Star Trek)
  13. Dreaming
  14. Reading a good book
  15. Setting your clocks to the wrong time
  16. Living in an earlier time zone
  17. Using the button at the bottom of the blogger panel to change the time or date

If you could travel in time when would you go to?

  3. My 13 isn’t up yet, but to answer your question, I think I’d like to travel in the Blue Box, like Dr. Who does. That seems quite fun, or the Wardrobe would be nice, not so bumpy! lol

    Fun list!! Happy Thursday!

  11. What a great idea! I think I’d like to travel just about 90 days into the future. I’d know if exercise and salad helped me lose weight, and other great life mysteries I’m currently wrestling with.

  17. You know, time travel doesn’t appeal to me at all….it’s dangerous stuff judging by Dr. Who and some of the others. But if I had to go, I’d like to use #1 (the tardis)

  43. I’ve always wanted to cross the international date line and go a day ahead or behind. Rather boring compared to yours, I know, but something fun, nonetheless.

  44. Cordia Amant on August 2nd, 2007 at 3:10 am
  45. Love the idea and love your ideas and the shows you took them from. I especially enjoyed the last 4 ideas. Very clever. I daydream all the time.

  46. Lazy Daisy on August 2nd, 2007 at 3:21 am
  47. I love the Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, that would be a cool thing to do. I would probably want to travel back to high school, I had so much fun! :)

  74. cajunvegan on August 2nd, 2007 at 9:54 pm
  75. I love your lists – this one was great fun. (You forgot self hypnosis after purging your immediate area of reminders of the current time/date, a la “Somewhere in Time”)

As for me, I’d like to visit Paris in the 1920′s, but only if I knew I could get “home.”

  76. MissMeliss on August 2nd, 2007 at 10:21 pm
  77. Cool list! I would like to go back to colonial America – just for a couple of hours. I really prefer modern conveniences.

  78. KarenW on August 2nd, 2007 at 11:06 pm
  79. Good list. I am with wordpress and have been frustrated at posting on Wednesday, then doing my TT and posting after midnight only to have Wednesday’s date on it, and it looks like I have no Thursday post. I will see what we have for that purpose. I prefer most of your methods however.

  80. dawn on August 2nd, 2007 at 11:16 pm
  81. I think I’d go in a zap of electricity like in Terminator, although with the annoying part of leaving your clothes behind. LOL!

    Happy TT!

  82. Nicole Austin on August 2nd, 2007 at 11:16 pm
  83. Thanks for visiting my TT.

A DeLorean would be my first choice for time travel or just running to the store for that matter. I think they are cute.

But a good book is a priceless way to travel through time. And you don’t have to worry about getting eaten by a dinosaur, one of your parents having a crush on you, getting caught in a war zone or any of those pesky little problems with real time travel.

  84. Alasandra on August 2nd, 2007 at 11:23 pm
  85. What an inspired list!

  86. Starrlight on August 3rd, 2007 at 12:01 am
