Thursday Thirteen #19
July 19th, 2007 12:02 am

- Old computing books for versions of languages and software that are long gone.
- Video tapes of films that I’ve got the DVD or that I’ll never want to watch again.
- A paper lamp shade with a hole in one side.
- Jeans with a zip that was bust.
- Glass jars to be recycled.
- An old kitchen waste bin from when I was a student and needed a bin for five or more peoples rubbish.
- Free software CDs for ISPs that are long gone and software I don’t want anymore.
- Old work shirts because I had too many that I didn’t fit anymore
- Magazines to be recycled.
- Dust, dirt and cobwebs from places it’s hard to clean. I’ve evicted a few spiders this week.
- Random books I’ll never want to read again or in an odd rare case read any more of in particular a history of the design of London that looked interesting but when I started reading it turned out to be written by someone with an unhealthy belief that if you draw circles from one place to another and find a third place on the same circle it must have been planned and that coincidence never happens.
- Old washing up bowl and drainer that were scratched and wouldn’t come clean despite lots of washing with hot water and detergent. And spraying with cleaning solutions. And soaking. And scrubing.
- Odd socks.
So what have you or should you be clearing out?

I soooo need to clean up things, but in the middle of summer with the temps being so hot it can wait until the Fall ..
Happy TT!
Hee! I hear you on the odd socks — I wonder where their sock-partners go? Into a black hole of socks? Into an alternate universe of socks? At any rate, I have to wonder if theoretical physicists will someday stumble on the Sock Dimension wherein will reside everybody’s lost odd socks. ;-D
Happy TT to you!
The list of things I need to clean out is endless. My family tends to be packrats, so we could likely fill an industrial sized dumpster. LOL!
Happy TT! Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my list.
That’s another thing I did in my holidays, Cleaned up my room. Forgot about that one in my list.
Yikes, I have a TON of stuff to go through. No time!!
Now, if I could get “The Hubby” to do the same, I’d be all set!
Thanks for sharing.
Happy TT!
Whoa! Those were lots of things to put away huh.
Come over and visit my T13. It is up now.
Oooh. I have a bunch of mismatched trainers that need ditching. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by.
Good on you!!! I’m in a mess! I just can’t seem to throw anything away! (Like those old disc’s… I swear I’m gonna glue um front to front [laser side out] and hang them in the trees and garden to ?maybe? scare birds, but definitely make rainbows!
We did a huge clean up last fall of all the toys and movies that my kids have outgrown. I refused to let anything back in the house. What wasn’t sold at a yard sale went to charity.
It’s an on going battle here, but we have gotten much better this year. Don’t you feel like you have regained so much more living space?
One of these days I’m going to tackle my garage, maybe, sometime soon when it’s too hot or too cold, but not right now, guess I need to think about it.
Mitch
Hey, how do you change the date to show tomorrow before its even here?
Three years ago I started a new “tradition”. Every week I collect a bag of misc. stuff from around the house. Once a month those bags go to one of the area thrift stores. I hate clutter. I don’t take single socks though; they go in the trash. lol
Happy TTing and thanks for stopping by!
Any go up on ebay?? We sold some old furniture lately that I thought would have NO CHANCE, but still they sold! woo hoo!
How much would you charge to clean out my basement!??
Happy TT!
Which reminds me I need to clean the storage room soon
Happy TT!
Living in this small apartment, we have gotten rid of everything we didn’t absolutely need or really love – misc. books, excess tupperware, some clothes. Happy TT!
i should be clearing up our closet, too … too many clothes we wouldn’t be wearing anymore.
happy TT
I forgot to do spring cleaning
I can empathize. I’m in the middle of a major decluttering effort here as well. If I didn’t know better I’d wonder if I was nesting…
You should be an inspiration to me. My home is just overrun with STUFF. One of my particular issues is with back issues: magazines I really mean to ready, I really do, but somehow haven’t gotten to.
Ah, isn’t throwing out stuff just fun? I could do that every day. Unfortunately I always run out of things to throw away before long. If only my dad would let me loose in his garage – now that would be a field day. Alas, he is a packrat. What is it with men and their urge to keep every damn thing they might eventually find a use for in a hundred years again? Never understood that really. ;o)
Good idea to clear stuff out – I so need to do more of that
This was a great list because today is the first big house cleaning I’m going to do since I moved recently. I promised myself I wouldn’t do clutter at the new place. LMAO wish me luck!
Magazines are mine…oh and Laundry. But let’s not talk about that, mmk?
I seem to be in an endless pattern of throwing out clothes, yet somehow, never having any more room in my wardrobe. Tis a mystery
Happy T13
good job! I haven’t thrown much out lately.
I’ve been on a cleaning binge. With kids, the clutter multiplies, so before my cleaning lady comes, I target a new area of the house and go nuts.
I bet my township loves me; they get money for every pound of recycling we create. I create a LOT of recycling for them.
I throw out old socks when I go on a trip – just leave em behind after I wear them.
Lyn
Hmmm…. I should follow your example, but I’m veeeery bad at throwing things away.
Yes, i was over the moon after my TT was finished! *lol* Thanks for visiting!
Wow, now I feel like this place is really junky. So many things to clean out, so much time spent blogging. Happy TT.
