The (Phone) Saga Continues

I’m going to muse today on a simple question. How can it be that I, a not at all hip or trend person, managed to buy a mobile phone so new (and apparently possibly hip and trendy) that no where sells a case for it over the counter?

Then it struck me. It’s a gadget. Somehow I have a knack of picking cool gadgets even when I’m not trying to. My PC has a brushed metal case with a perspex front. My PDA is pretty ordinary but the fold up keyboard is in a design museum it’s so cool. I didn’t set out to buy either because they are cool but their design aesthetic appealed to the designer in me. The part of me, when I was a student, which liked to hang around with the architects because they got to make stuff look good and not just work.

So back to getting a case for it. I can order one online but somehow it just seems wrong that I need to. All I want is a case for it not something particularly niche. Of course a quick search on the Internet turns up 35 cases for it. And I want the one that will make my cool phone look cool and not some shoddy bits of plastic.

I need a geek injection quick or I’ll have to go and buy some trendy clothes to go with my phone…
